This snowy walkway is part of the trail around the 24-acre Abbott Lake at the Peaks of Otter in Virginia. Sharp Top Mtn. can be seen thru the trees. Sharp Top mtn. has been one of the most popular recreation trails in the country since the nineteenth century.
Abbott Lake is nestled between the bases of two dominating mountains in the rolling hills of Virginia. Three mountain peaks sit atop a thick blanket of forest along the famous Blue Ridge Parkway, making up the Peaks of Otter.
The Blue Ridge Parkway is a scenic byway that follows the high crests of the central and southern Appalachians for 469 miles from Shenandoah National Park in Virginia, to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina.
